Participation in Sanofi's Patient Advocacy Group Capacoty Building Workshop - Singapore
Jaya Jairam, Project Director MOHAN Foundation, was invited to participate in Sanofi's South-East Asia & India Patient Advocacy Group (PAG) Capability Building workshop on 30 September – 1 October 2026 at Singapore. The program trained patient groups to use AI responsibly, advocate for national implementation of World Health Assembly (WHA) resolutions, and build an investment case for government action. The workshop brought together around 30 patient advocates from India, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam and Philippines.
Facilitators: Alessandra Durstine (United Patients / Catalyst Consulting Group) led all sessions, joined by Andras Baneth, AI and strategic communications trainer and co-founder of EUtraining.eu.
Day 1: AI and WHA resolutions for patient advocacy
Practical uses of generative AI to summarise WHA resolutions and policy documents
Responsible AI: fact-checking, bias, data protection, and drafting organisational use principles
Assessing national implementation gaps and turning WHA commitments into specific policy asks
Stakeholder mapping of decision-makers, allies and opponents
Day 2: Building the health investment case
The cost of inaction: avoidable illness, higher long-term costs, lost productivity
Reframing health spending as an investment, with a full return-on-investment map
Combining economic evidence with patient lived experience
Each team presented an investment case linked to its WHA resolution and received feedback
Key takeaways
AI speeds up policy research, but outputs must be verified and patient data kept out.
Strong policy ask must include identification of the responsible body, action, budget and progress indicators.
Economic evidence is most persuasive when paired with real patient stories.
